The Art of Letting Stone Rest
ResilienceMemory
A bowl can keep rain
without asking the cloud to stay.
So the day may hold its losses
without calling them by another name.
The stone in the garden path
does not apologize for being worn;
it serves by enduring
the shape of many footsteps.
I think wisdom is smaller than we hoped,
and more obedient to tenderness:
to place the cup down gently,
to leave a window unlatched,
to let the late light finish
what the hand began.
